We are so excited to welcome Khadija Gbla to GHC18’s academic program! Khadija has represented Australia at the Harvard National Model UN, Commonwealth Youth Forum and Australian and Africa Dialogue. Born in Sierra Leone, she spent her youth in Gambia before putting down roots in Adelaide, Australia. The transition was complex; she experienced racism, illness and depression, but threw herself into her education and has since used her multicultural voice to educate health professionals about the realities of FGM and to offer advice on policy through South Australian Government Minister’s Youth Council. She also spends her time organizing camps and activities for newly-arrived refugees and raising awareness about both sexual and mental health issues among her peers. Don’t miss out on hearing her tackle the serious topics of FGM, feminism and racism in her unique, thought-provoking and often hilarious way!
